September Reader Spotlight – Amy ‘Table’ Studzienko

Welcome to the monthly installment of Reader Spotlight – in which we ask a library patron to tell us about their favorite books.

In honor of school starting again this month, our September Reader Spotlight shines on local English Teacher, Amy “Table” Studzienko (pronounced ‘stew-jenko’), also known as Ms. S by her students. This will be Amy’s third year teaching English and Agriculture classes to Lopez’s middle and high schoolers. She came to the island to pursue her passion for agriculture, starting as a farmhand at Horsedrawn Farm. She was a steward for the Seed Library in the past, and likes to remain involved with the “ag scene” on Lopez. In addition to farming and teaching, Amy is a first-responder for Lopez Fire and EMS.

Along with her many passions (and nicknames!), Amy has many great books to recommend, with a noticeable preference for powerful settings and characters! Her recommendations include Feed by M.T. Anderson, The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, Blindness by Jose Saramago, The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut, The Dead by James Joyce, and A Dolls House by Henrik Ibsen. Enjoy!

Stop by the Reader Spotlight display in the library to borrow one of Amy’s favorites.
