Lopez Island author Brenda Asterino will read from several of her books on healing, spiritual presence, and caregiving. After a career in education, a major car accident in 1991 led to her first book, The Phoenix Connection: Brain Injury and Healing through the Art of Living, about the profound experiences and lessons she learned while healing from brain injury and experiencing a kind of rebirth. “Written with impressive candor, poignancy, and artless sincerity, the commentary comprising ‘The Phoenix Connection’ is thoughtful and thought-provoking, reflective and observative, and thoroughly engaging from beginning to end. Especially recommended reading.” – Midwest Book Review
Her later works include Sitting in Creation: Pondering Life, a collection of poetry, short prose, and photography that reflects the movement of a Midwest girl becoming a woman and stepping into her own power. Ms. Asterino has also written a manual for caregivers and self-advocates called Celebrating Life which provides practical tools, forms, and information to make the healing journey easier, safer, and more effective. She is currently working on a collection of stories about past life memories and spiritual awakening.
The reading will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 2pm in the Lopez Library community room. Refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Lopez Island Library. Ms. Asterino will sell and sign books after the reading. All are welcome.
