December Reader Spotlight – Lou Pray’s 2018 Picks

Welcome to the monthly installment of Reader Spotlight – this month we’ve asked Library Director and librarian Lou Pray what were her top reads from 2018.

Lou has lived on Lopez for almost 12 years. She moved here from New Mexico, for the Lopez Library Director position. This was her first post in a public library. Her previous positions were always as a science librarian. Lou loves it here on Lopez. She loves the community, the rural aspect, being close to nature and the Salish Sea. You may notice some thematic trends in Lou’s picks this year: powerful settings and lovable characters, especially ones who are challenged with a significant hardship that isolates them and demands that they fend for themselves. She has a soft spot for heroic, young protagonists, and appreciates the power of creativity in their stories.
