Writing & Listening: A Contemplative Workshop Connecting Self, Spirit, Nature
with Priscilla Stuckey, local author
& spiritual counselor
A relaxed and restorative writing workshop using simple exercises that combine personal reflection with writing to deepen the ability to hear a larger wisdom and the voice of Nature within. Bring pen and paper (or laptop) and a willing heart. Dress comfortably to spend part of the time outdoors, weather permitting. Free and open to the public.
Priscilla Stuckey is a writer and spiritual counselor with a passion for reconnecting people with nature. She has published two books, Kissed by a Fox: and other stories of friendship in nature and Tamed by a Bear: Coming Home to Nature-Spirit-Self. Her PhD in religious studies is from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, and she has taught in the graduate programs of Prescott College in Prescott, AZ, and Naropa University in Boulder, CO. When she lived in California she founded a small nonprofit land trust to preserve a nearby creek and enjoyed volunteering in urban creek restoration and wildlife rehab. In Boulder she co-founded a local rights-of-nature group. Today she connects with nature through bird-watching, hiking, swimming, and listening to Nature-Spirit-Source in quiet meditation. She used to say, “I do books. I edit them, teach them, and write them.” But now she spends more time communing directly with Nature-Spirit, and she just moved to Lopez Island to allow for more of that. She works as a spiritual counselor helping people connect with their own still small voice, which of course is the heart of nature too. She lives on Lopez with her longtime sweetheart, Tim, and their blue heeler mix, Bodhi.
