Job Opening – Library Programs Coordinator

Lopez Island Library District seeks a Programs Coordinator to begin August 2018. The Programs Coordinator organizes author talks and other special events and classes to support the library’s mission to provide resources and services for the enrichment of community member’s cultural and recreational lives, provide information needed for daily living and decision-making, and promote the love of reading and of lifelong learning.

Responsibilities:

• Closely support the Director in the vision and culture of the Lopez Island Library in all aspects of programs
• Assist in development, coordination and helming if required, quality library programs for our community
• Create, update and communicate to the director all financial spreadsheets and requirements for programs
• Coordinate and communicate dynamic program logistics: maintenance of community calendars, marketing, lodging, transportation, author fees, A/V requirements, venues, and expenses
• Expedite program accounting materials and provide to the Office Manager
• Collaborate with the Director on rolling out new library services and products
• Develop and distribute library marketing material: posters, brochures, newspaper articles and ads, flyers
• Collaborate with local island merchants, non-profits and other organizations to establish and foster strong support of library programs in an environment of teamwork with the library-represent the library in community outreach!
• Evaluate and report program attendance through feedback and maintenance of library statistics
• Provide strong customer service and positive reception at all events
• Positively promote through dialogue and personal interface all upcoming programs and library features
• Support artists and the artwork coordinator in the installation, promotion and receptions associated with Art in the Library programming
• Provide positive energy and willingness in the setting up of chairs, A/V, tables and other requirements for library programs
• Maintain the library sandwich board assuring it features timely and essential library information

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Experience developing programs
• Experience working with children
• Experience working in libraries
• Have good problem solving skills, be resourceful and take the initiative
• Comfortable with using technology, including setting up sound and presentation equipment
• Experience presenting before small or large audiences
• Have a good understanding and knowledge of library services and products
• Be able to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Have excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be able reach and crouch while working

Compensation:

• $22/hour, 30 hours/week
