Never Too Old Book Club – Wednesday, December 1st, 5pm

Never Too Old: a Young Adult Book Club for Adults (formerly YARLI: Young Adult Readers of Lopez Island) meets the 1st WEDNESDAY of the month to enjoy the wonders of young adult and middle grade books and authors. All ages are welcome. Our next meeting is December 1st in-person at the library. Email beth@lopezlibrary.org for more information.

December 1stPICTURE BOOKS

Choose 2 or 3 picture books on any topic to share. You might choose books you loved as a child, books you have read to children, or current books you love. You might also wish to choose a brief passage from each book to read aloud.

Picture Books are EVERYBODY books!

January 5th: Read one or more of Louise Erdrich’s “Birchbark House” series, which is an alternative to the “Little House on the Prairie” series, told through an indigenous perspective. The series begins with The Birchbark House, followed by The Game of Silence, The Porcupine Year, Chickadee, and Makoons.

February 2nd: Read one or more books by Francisco X. Stork, whose novels follow Hispanic teens as they come of age. Here are just a few examples: Irises, The Memory of Light, Behind the Eyes, Marcelo in the Real World, The Last Summer of the Death Warriors, Disappeared, and its sequel, Illegal.
