Join Lopez Library Artist in Residence, Molly Ware, for the workshops “Free Up Your Creativity”.
The opening session is on Saturday, July 27th from 12:30-3 pm. Please RSVP to nikyta@lopezlibrary.org for this workshop, as space is limited.
In these “Free Up Your Creativity”workshops, we’ll use abstract, experimental painting to help us learn to:
- Do creative work consistently
- Get started when staring down a large, blank page.
- Reclaim and access your artistic voice
- Do new things creatively and step outside of the representational brain’s familiar choices
- Become more courageous, have more fun, and experience more joy in creating
- Let go of focusing first on “things looking real or good”
- Work with what shows up in the creative process without trying to fix it.
- Deconstruct social programming that keeps you playing safe in your creative work (and life)
- Work with the brain’s resistance to and fear of creativity
- Play and collaborate in community to free up our collective artistic spirit in ways that feel safe and affirming
- Understand the neuroscience behind the challenges and possibilities of creating.Participants can do either just the opening session or they can be part of the ongoing practice group. Ideally those in the practice group will attend at least 3 of the 4 total sessions.
