Saturday, March 12th, the Lopez Island Library welcomes poet Jessica Gigot who will read from her recently published book of poetry “Flood Patterns”. Jessica Gigot, Ph.D., M.F.A, is a poet, farmer, teacher and musician. Her small farm in Bow, WA –Harmony Fields – grows herbs, lamb and produce. She offers educational and art workshops through her Art in the Barn series, and has an academic background in horticulture and plant pathology. Jessica has lived in the Skagit Valley for over ten years and is deeply connected to the artistic and agricultural communities that coexist in the region. In 2003, she worked as an intern at S&S Homestead on Lopez Island and her time on the island solidified her love of and appreciation for agriculture. Jessica’s first collection of poems, “Flood Patterns”, was published by Antrim House Books in November 2015. Her writing has been published in the Floating Bridge Press Review and Poetry Northwest.
Her book will be for available for sale and signing after her reading. We welcome poets, readers, those who worked with Jessica at S&S Farm and all to this special afternoon. For more information contact Jen Krajack, Lopez Island Library Program Coordinator at 468-2265.
