Boys in the Boat Potluck, Program, & Movie Screening, April 19 @ LCCA

Join us at the LCCA on Friday, April 19th from 5-8:30 for a Special Program and Movie Screening of “Boys in the Boat”.

The Lopez Island Library, Lopez Island Historical Society and Lopez Center for Community and the Arts are coming together to host a wonderful screening “The Boys in the Boat” movie, with a special program before the movie featuring actual items from  John White, who was one of the ‘boys in the boat’ and a long time Lopez resident. He was Colby White’s grandfather, who will be presenting before the movie screening.

The line up of events is as follows:

5-6 pm – Potluck, Community story time, and show and tell of memorabilia.
6-6:30 pm – Official program with slideshow
6:30-8:30 pm – movie screening

We encourage you to come at 5 pm with a delicious dish to share, your own place settings including plates, utensils, a cup and a beverage, and join us for a Lopez style story telling and show and tell of memorabilia from this historic rowing team and Olympic gold medalists. At 6 pm, there will be a slideshow of historic photos and a facilitated presentation by the Lopez Island Historical Society. At 6:30 pm, the recently released “Boys in the Boat” movie will be screened.

This event is free and open to the public.

Also, the library has copies of the book to borrow, so you can read up before the movie!
