November is National Novel Writing Month!

Writing a novel alone can be difficult, even for seasoned writers. National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) takes place every November, and helps writers track their progress, set milestones, connect with other writers in a vast online community, and participate in events that are designed to make sure you finish your novel.

The Lopez Library will be a “Come Write In” site for NaNoWriMo this November, meaning that we welcome writers to come work on their creative projects in the library. If you’d like to officially participate in NaNoWriMo, you can sign up on the National Novel Writing Website (NaNoWriMo.org). All  you have to do is create an account and create a project that you plan to work on in November. Once you’ve  logged in, you can join the San Juan Islands writing region: https://www.nanowrimo.org/regions/usa-washington-san-juan-islands.
Elizabeth Menozzi is a writing ambassador for NaNoWriMo who lives on Orcas Island, and will be hosting weekly write-ins on the inter-island ferry. Check in with her weekly online calendar for more information on how to participate locally.
