Contract Opportunity: Communications Planning for Lopez Island Library
The Lopez Island Library is looking for a short-term (1-3 months) Consultant to help us take a fresh look at how we communicate with the community.
Working with library staff, the Consultant will assess how the library currently shares information about programs, services, collections, events, and other library news, and then help us develop a practical plan to improve and streamline those efforts.
The goal is simple: help the library reach more people, listen better, communicate more clearly, and make it easier for community members to stay connected with everything the library offers.
The consultant will work with library staff to:
- Review the library’s current communications and marketing efforts
- Look at tools, platforms, and locations currently being used
- Identify what’s working well and what could be improved
- Help streamline communication workflows and reduce duplication
- Recommend ways to better reach various audiences in the community
- Explore tools for communication and storage that emphasize privacy and security
- Develop a practical communications and marketing plan for the future
This could include areas such as:
- Social media
- Website content
- Newsletters and email communication
- Posters, flyers, and signage
- Event promotion
- Internal communication processes
- Accessibility and inclusivity in communications
What We’re Hoping For
At the end of the project, we’d like to have:
- A clear assessment of our current communications approach
- Suggestions for tools, priorities, workflows, and next steps
- A practical, streamlined communications and marketing plan
Who We’re Looking For
We’re open to a range of backgrounds and experiences. This project could be a good fit for someone with experience in:

Experience working with small organizations or rural communities is especially appreciated.
