The world premiere screening of, “The World Swallows Whole,” a new experimental animated short film created during Yarely Torres Reynoso’s residency at the Lopez Island Library.
Working with mixed media and traditional animation techniques, Torres Reynoso explores memory, identity, nostalgia, and the ways our sense of self shifts over time. Blending imagery, texture, repetition, and sound, “The World Swallows Whole” invites viewers into a moving collage of familiar yet altered spaces and asks us to reflect on the memories that shape who we understand ourselves to be.
The screening will be accompanied by a conversation with the artist about the film and their creative process.
