Nikyta Palmisani is joining the library as Lopez’s own Community Alchemist, and we couldn’t be more excited. This six-month position will draw on Nikyta’s extensive experience in order to create gold for the community. She will assist in the formation of a future-focused Strategic Vision for the library, refresh our volunteer program, increase our ability to communicate and listen to the community, and support a range of innovative library programs.
Nikyta has been a full time Lopezian for the last eight years and brings her seven years of experience as Lopez Solid Waste’s Training, Education and Outreach Coordination to this role as well as founding of the ReMakery. Nikyta also brings her lifelong work as a community builder, deep listener, art maker and educator. She looks forward to listening deeply and engaging with the Lopez Community, Lopez Library Volunteers, Staff, and Board members as inputs into her alchemy!
Nikyta is an adamant bibliophile, who although a digital native, still accumulates stacks of physical books at home at an astonishingly rapid rate. Her husband may be secretly hoping that this six-month tenure at the Library will remind her that the shared based economy is a beautiful thing.
Please come out to the library to meet and welcome Nikyta! Here’s an inside tip….she’s making a special appearance as MC of Date Night at the Library on July 21, a fun and romantic evening for couples to spend a little quality time together. Refreshments, music, and games (with prizes) will be on tap. AND….childcare will be provided so parents can really focus on each other. Learn more here. Space is limited, so register soon here.
