Due dates have been extended to June 15 (unless overdue prior to March 1). You are not obligated to return materials at this time, but may do so if you wish.
The Library has developed a system for disinfecting materials. Please return (or renew)* any overdue books to the Library, so that they may begin to circulate again soon. Items can be returned through the book-slot by the front door of the Library building, or the book drops at Lopez Village Market or the South End General Store.
Our disinfection process:
Time is the best disinfectant! Returned materials will be placed in a designated quarantine area of the Library, which is separate from the main space, for 4 days. This is based on the guidelines specified by the Northeast Document Conservation Center regarding disinfecting library books. The NDCC recommends a 24-48 hours quarantine for books, and we are doubling that to be extra safe. Additionally, staff will be wearing gloves and washing hands before and after handling the materials.
Please note: Materials on your account will remain on your account until they have completed the 4-day quarantine period. This is to ensure that items are not registered as being available in the catalog when they are still in quarantine.
If you are sick, please stay home. Our priority is the well-being of our patrons and community. Please wait until you feel better to return items. As always, we do not charge overdue fines 🙂
