Roots & Wings: Hibernation

Children need two things: roots and wings

Nothing like a good frost to remind us it is still January and not Spring! The warm weather has been so nice. There are many fun things to do in winter with children: finding a puddle to break the top layer of ice with boots is a thrill for a toddler! Playing with frost on a window or catching snowflakes on a black surface and seeing them through a magnifying glass…

Some of us hibernate and enjoy the cozy lights and warm sun through the window. The past few weeks I have been reading some hibernation books to the outreach groups I get to see each week. One of those stories is about a Big Bear that can’t quite hibernate and get to sleep.

The other one is about a Big Bear that can’t seem to wake up even though his furry friends are having a party under his nose.

Here are the titles and a couple of other suggestions for books related to animal/winter hibernation. Happy Winter! Enjoy!
