Programs and More Programs….the Library’s Program Coordinator Jen Krajack

JenKrajack2I have been a program/project manager for over 25 years.  Along my career I traveled extensively, often overseas and was regularly moved by the beauty of this remarkable world.  But the landscape of Lopez Island is exceptional each day and for those of us that live here there are countless opportunities to explore and wonder in the many elements of the island’s beauty. As the Program Coordinator for the Lopez Library I am given the opportunity to work with our local authors, scientists, musicians, conservationists and a score of interested and participative library patrons, all rounding out the beauty of our island. The experience has been terrific.  Lopez Library Director Lou Pray and my fellow library staff have been great collaborators. As a team we have been enjoying the work of bringing a variety of programs to the island community.  As the daughter of a geologist I am partial to science programs and the island has no shortage of creative, heavily experienced and generous scientists. ( More science programs to come! ) Artists, musicians and writers make up a large part of our community and their contributions to our library programs are vibrant and vital.  We are now finishing up our Winter Wanderlust Series and the turn-out for these programs has been great.  The library and your Program Coordinator in particular, are very grateful for your support of these programs.  We have many interesting events planned in the next few months and I look forward to working with Lou and the library team as we bring more creative programming forward to our patrons.  I’m always happy to hear your suggestions.

As a young girl I traveled the National Parks extensively with my family. Where else would a geologist’s family go?  I still have my father’s geologic pick, his compass, as well as many many rocks. They are constant reminders to me of our travels, the magnificent breadth and wonder of this world.  I plan to bring as many variations of that beauty as possible to our library patrons while keeping in mind……we wake up to it each day.
