The Lopez Island Library is excited to announce a call for original artworks to be included in a community exhibit at the Library titled New Growth, showcasing art made during the past year. Artists of any age and in any media are invited to submit original works created over the past 12 months (since April of 2020). The art piece does not need to be about the pandemic, although thematic material is welcome. The intention of this exhibit is to have an eclectic display of new local art as part of the gradual re-opening of the Library building for browsing. There will also be a virtual exhibit of the show available on the Lopez Library’s website.
The exhibit will remain up throughout the spring and summer months of 2021. All artistic media will be accepted, with the guideline that the work must be easily and safely hung from the molding, affixed temporarily to the Library’s walls, or fit in the glass display case.
All ages and artistic experience levels are encouraged to participate. The Lopez Library hopes to include all submissions, but reserves the right to refuse to exhibit any works deemed inappropriate. To participate, please submit a digital image of your artwork (in JPEG format) to Malia Sanford, malia@lopezlibrary.org with the subject “art submission.” The deadline to submit is Friday, April 23rd.
